Leadership

Gateway Community Church is an Elder (plural) lead congregation. It is our core conviction that the Elders are called to work together, as a team, to bring to fruition God’s will in our Church and community. The team approach to leadership furthermore creates a value-driven organization instead of a personality-led one. Therefore, the Leadership Team of Gateway Community Church is as Follows:

1510790_10152228342769414_107125298_nSenior Pastor: Martin “Chip” Parmer

Pastor Chip and his family have been serving Gateway Community Church since February of 2014. Pastor Chip has been in the ministry for over ten years. He has previously served as a Youth Director in Texas, an Executive Pastor of a mid-sized church in Salt Lake City, Utah, and as a Senior Pastor of two churches in central and north Texas. He currently holds two earned degrees (B.S. in Religious Studies & M.A. in Theology, Liberty University, in Lynchburg, Virginia). He is currently finishing up additional studies for a Masters of Divinity Degree. His ministry passions are youth, evangelism, apologetics, and discipleship. As for his personal interests, his faith in Christ comes first, followed closely by his deep love for and devotion to his family, his football team (Gig’em Ags), and a passion for BBQ’ing.

Worship Leader: Jim Powers

Hi, I’m Jim Powers, one of the Elders at Gateway Community Church. I have been serving as an Elder here at Gateway since 2011. I have attended Gateway with my wife Trish from 1997. Through that time we have raised three wonderful children, Mary, Tom, and Katie and now enjoy spending time with our grandson Tyler.  I have been employed by a local company as a Supervisor of Welding since the early 1980’s. I have served in many areas of ministry through the years at Gateway. I rejoice serving a loving God knowing that I have received the greatest gift of all, Jesus Christ, my Lord and Savior. Along with the relationship with my Lord and the twenty-one blessed years of marriage to Trish, I enjoy all the seasons except for when it’s cold, model railroading, football and music. My prayer is for God to continue to use me to serve Him and share the gospel message with those that are lost.

Children and Youth Ministry Leader: Clarissa Parmer

As Pastor Chip’s wife and mother of three, Clarissa cherishes the life-long calling to love and serve children and youth in multiple roles as mother, teacher, Vacation Bible School volunteer, and basketball coach. She strongly believes in training up the children in the fear and love of the Lord so when they are older they can help grow the Kingdom of God. Clarissa began serving the youth in her church at 18 years old and feels extra blessed to be able to share the love of Christ with the youth of Mayville High School. She enjoys sports and outdoors with her family, a good book by LaHaye & Jenkins, an American History book, and the fine cuisine grilled by her husband. In the future Clarissa hopes to see more of the children & youth she loves grow into leading and serving in ministries around the world. To GOD be the glory!

Administrative Assistant: Andrea Cisar

Andrea is the Gateway Community Church Administrative Assistant and has recently begun her journey serving here.  She attends Gateway with her husband, Brian, of four years, and they are expecting their first child later this summer.  She feels honored to serve this congregation and her Savior.   Andrea and her family live in Burnett where they enjoy sharing time with friends and family, reading, gardening, watching their chickens and relaxing with their dog, Sadie.
